THE WHY

The Scout Association has been empowering and engaging
with young people for over 100 years. Their rich history and
distinct visual language offered them the perfect platform to
launch a heritage brand in 2010. We were approached to work
on branding for an initial launch in the USA before it would be
rolled out to a wider European audience.

 

THE HOW

When researching the history of the Scouts,
founder of the Scout Movement and first Chief
Scout Lord Baden-Powell is really the only per-
son to begin with. His famous drawings became
the partners for our logo workings and set the
tone for the overall brand.

In the initial stages we were asked to generate
names and straplines for the brand as well as
visual treatments which were gradually refined to
become the final marque.

THE NOW

The final marque was designed as a stamp of
approval from Lord Baden-Powell himself, while
his illustrations are used as brand assets across all
creative. Alternative lock-ups of the logo aid use
across various collateral and were applied to a
variety of products such as flasks, gas lamps, bags
and lunch boxes. The brand launched to much
success and the initial funds raised were invested
straight back into the charity, breathing new life
into one of the UK’s best loved institutions.
